Update on Adapting Twelfth Night as of 26.10.23
A1.i.i an A1.i.ii - reduced character count. Curio's a musician now and has a funny song to play. We're not doing attendants unless we really need attendants
A1.i.ii is a Staged-inspired video call frame with Valentine. Given the equipment I have to work with, the more scenes end up like this the better
A1.ii.i is a s set-ups up A1.ii.ii as another video call with Viola in a hospital/sickbed talking to the captain this way for ::waves hands:: reasons.
Crossed my mind to set the whole thing during the pandemic but that feels less like drawing inspiration from Staged than plagiarising the concept
A1.i.iii is a bitch and we don't like him. There's a joke that informs Sir Andrew Aguecheek's character and relies on Maria holding his hand, which obviously I can't do. So... I'm skipping that scene for now and hoping something later in the play inspires a solution

Confession time: I know it's heresy but I don't really like the Comedy of Errors. It's Twelfth Night without the wit and darkness
So currently we're in the version of things where I try to adapted a modernised, one-man, Staged-inspired screenplay version of Twelfth Night.
Do I know anything about screenwriting?
No
Do I know anything about cinematography or film or media production?
No
Do I know anything about videography or editing?
Absolutely nothing whatever
Will my eldritch depths of my ignorance about every possible aspect of this project stop me from spending months trying to learn just enough to hash my way through it?
Sadly, also no

Despite this being one the worst days that I'll probably ever live through, I did make my NANO word count. I can write a lot and quickly if something else is managing time for me
What I didn't do is enjoying any part of the process. It's probably accurate to say that thus far I've hated almost every minute of it. I usually write with pen on paper, but that's too slow for NANO, so I just dump all the brain rubbish into Scrivener. At this rate, it's going to be such a low quality draft that I would never try to mend it into something readable. Tomorrow, I'm approaching the screen with intention, the way I set pen to paper. Good skill to have anyway. I may end up failing NANO this year because of it, but better that than train myself to hate writing
In other news, no progress on the screenplay adaptation. Losing Zeus today stripped me down to nothing. I only managed to work on NANO because I'm not feeling invested in it. I am invested in the screenplay. So, with that in mind, my second intention for tomorrow is to prioritise working on the adaptation

Reached A2.i of screen adaptation. Only one scene on-hold.
Production order is... complicated because of compositing. Need characters that require a haircut to be filmed in same space with exact same set up - so same day, close to same time.
Second realisation, also because of compositing - scenes with multiple characters in same space must have each character's blocking tightly constrained. Still must look look natural. Somehow
Also now thinking to do NANOWRIMO. Did it in 2015 but lost the habit. 2016 was A Very Bad Year so didn't even try. By the time I was ready to try again it was 2020, a Notoriously Bad Year, as you might have heard. Perhaps this is the year to re-establish the writing habit and maintain it after November
